Hawaya Racing Debuts New Pro Fueler at Orlando Speed World

Hawaya Racing headed to Florida for the AHDRA season opener at Orlando Speed World with one Top Fueler, one Pro Fueler and several Pro Dragsters for the first race of the season.

In qualifying, The ASB T/F bike ridden by Devin Pelrine and tuned by Johnny Vickers qualified in the #8 spot. Mike Pelrine riding the newly designed 2011 Hawaya Racing P/F bike qualified #4, and in the largest Nitro class, Pro Drag, Bill Purvis came in at #2, Rocky Jackson at #4, Mike Nolen at # 5, Johnny Vickers at #7 and Craig Pelrine in at #8.

On Sunday in the first round of T/F, Devin was paired up against #1 qualifier Doug Horne. Although Devin is new to T/F, he gave Doug all he wanted in the first round, running a 6.96 @ 208 mph to Doug’s 6.80 @ 219 mph.

In the first round of Pro Fuel, Mike was paired up against Doug Horne on the new Pro Fueler. Mike red-lit against Doug allowing him to advance to the next round. Although the new Pro Fueler ran well, handling problems prevented Mike from getting any good numbers over the weekend. “Our new Derringer CL engine performed flawless. It took all we could throw at it and keep on getting it. We have identified a bearing problem in the rear wheel that kept the bike driving left, says Johnny Vickers. We are designing a fix at the present time and will go back after it in Tulsa. Looking on the bright side, our worst 60’ all weekend was a 1.133”

In the Hawaya Racing Pro Drag class, 5 of the 8 qualified bikes were Hawaya Racing built Derringer powered bikes. Bill took out Johnny, Mike took out Rocky and Kirby took out Craig in the first round. In the end, it was Mike Nolen coming on strong to take the win over Bill in an all Derringer final.

The Hawaya Racing P/D bikes head to the Manufactures Cup race in Valdosta, GA next on April 8-9-10 for the Royal Purple Pro Dragster class presented by Hawaya Racing. Then to the AHDRA Oklahoma race with the entire crew.
