Top Fuel racer Mark Cox will ride a Johnny Vickers/Hawaya Racing prepared Harley-Davidson Pro Dragster motorcycle at the upcoming All-Harley Drag Racing Association (AHDRA) Screamin’ Eagle Performance Parts Nationals Presented by Kresto race at Rockingham Dragway in Rockingham, North Carolina October 10-12, 2008. Long-time Mark Cox sponsor, Trailers of the East Coast, will be a sponsor of the Pro Dragster race effort. “I am very excited about the opportunity to get back on a competitive bike in an AHDRA race, especially a top-of-the-line bike prepared by Johnny Vickers,” said former AHDRA Pro Dragster National champion Mark Cox. “Johnny and I first came together during my Pro Dragster racing years and going back to my Harley racing roots will be a lot of fun. The class might not have the power of Top Fuel, but it is still a nitro engine built by Johnny Vickers and Hawaya Racing. We’ll be tough to beat with Johnny’s expertise in carbureted nitro engines!” “I’m also glad to get the opportunity to just get back on the track and race,” added Cox. “Having Trailers of the East Coast join me again for this great effort is just fantastic. I have a lot of wins and good runs at Rockingham and consider it one of my home tracks, along with Bristol. It will also be a good showcase for the new Derringer engine of Hawaya Racing Products and to represent CrossRoads Harley-Davidson. ”“I have been doing a great amount of development on the new Derringer race engine and this is a perfect venue to exhibit it in our backyard,” said Johnny Vickers, who spearheaded Mark Cox’s drive to numerous Top Fuel and Pro Drag victories. “The bike that Mark will be riding this weekend is a new Pro Dragster we built for Bill Purvis at Purvis Motorsports. It has some new innovations that we will be testing at Rockingham. This also gives Mark and I the ability to continue our relationship as rider/crew chief. Having Trailers of the East Coast join Mark and I in this effort is the frosting on the cake. ”The Screamin’ Eagles Performance Parts Nationals at The Rock is the finale for the 2008 13-race AHDRA season. Vickers moved to North Carolina the end of last year to follow his vision for Hawaya Racing. He wanted to not only prepare racing motorcycles, but also offer high-performance services and options to the race-oriented motorcycle enthusiasts, custom bike owners and the everyday rider looking for a unique, race-proven product. Hawaya’s partnership with CrossRoads Harley-Davidson offers a state-of-the-art motorcycle performance enhancement center with dyno tuning, horsepower packages, machine work and custom fabricated pieces. Mark Cox will be supporting the following sponsors: Cross Roads Harley-Davidson, Wilkesboro HOG Chapter, AlliedSignal/Autolite, Buell, Gates Rubber Company, Hawaya Racing, High Performance Coating, JIMS, LeBleu Bottled Water, Mack Brown Chevrolet, Performance Machine, Red Line Oil, Renegade, Simpson, Trailers of the East Coast, Vanson Leathers, South Pacific Tattoo Co., Jerzey’s Sports Bar, Aramark and WTQR.
