THAT’S A WRAP !

FIRST NITRO BIKE SCHOOL HUGE SUCCESS

Hawaya Racing’s Nitro Bike School went off without a hitch! 8 riders and 3 crew chiefs attended the two day school at Rockingham Dragway, just prior to the AHDRA season finale. The experience of the riders ranged from the 2010 #2 P/D rider in Canada with 8 years experience, to a street bike riding instructor that had never sat on a race bike of any kind, much less went down a drag strip. The Derringer powered Pro Dragsters preformed perfectly, even though they were tested a few times due to the in-experience of some of the riders. In all, 14 passes were put on each school bike only hurting one piston during the entire school. Steve, Chris and several of the attendees changed it during lunch, never slowing the schedule. Within an hour we were back up and running laps. Both school bikes went on to qualify on Saturday and race on Sunday.

All riders did very well. We were able to license 5 of the 8 riders during the school. The remaining 3 have only to run an ET within the low qualifying time at a future AHDRA event to receive their license. 2 of the 5 riders that did license went on to qualify on Saturday and raced on Sunday. Craig Tharpe and other AHDRA officials were on hand during the school to monitor the progress and observe the procedures of the school.

The next class is scheduled for April 27-28-29, 2011 at Rockingham N.C. We will increase the school to 2 1/2 days and then go right into the AHDRA event on Saturday. Class size is limited to 8 riders max. Crew chiefs are welcome. We have set a deadline of March 31, 2011 as the cut off date for the next school.

We are proud to announce that VP Racing Fuels will be coming aboard as the “Official Fuels of the Nitro Bike School for 2011. In addition, we also have Vanson Leathers coming on as the “Official Leathers”. Vanson provided several sets of leathers to riders that did not have there own at no cost to them. We have also worked a deal with Mickey Thompson Tires through Don Plesser of the PR Factory Store for M/T to be the “Official Tire”. The “Official Tow Bike “of the Nitro Bike School was provided by Rich Vreeland of Vreeland’s Harley Davidson. Our “Buddy 125” did all of the towing chores without a single complaint. Brian Williams of “Raw Edge Photography” is the official photographer.

We would like to thank Bill Purvis of PMS Motor sports for his help and dedication as well as the staff of the AHDRA. We would also like the thank Steve Earwood and the staff at Rockingham Dragway for making the first Nitro Bike School a success.
