Johnny is an original member of the AHDRA Top Fuel 4-second club, being one of the first 16 to ever run under 5.0 seconds in the eight mile.
Johnny has been the featured racer in foreign countries such as France in 1990 & 1991 and Canada in 1996.
HRP is credited as being the first team in Harley Drag Racing to obtain professional crew uniforms. Numerous past national and world records as well as various “Best Appearing Crew” awards.
In 2010, Johnny Vickers starts the first and only Nitro Bike School to teach riders and crew how to ride and maintain a Nitro Harley.

2015 – Johnny resets his own NHRA national record at 7.14 seconds at 181.5 mph at No Problem Raceway in Louisiana, his home track, on the way to winning the first NHRA event of the year. Johnny designs and manufactures the Gen-4 Derringer which has many improvements over the previous Derringer engines, mainly moving the cam chest up on the block for better valve train stability. Johnny builds a new bike and tunes Janette Thornley for the 2015 season in the NHRA, getting her the second NHRA Pro Fuel Harley Championship, and the first female to ever do so. Janette won 4 national events to secure the championship. In November, Johnny installs the Gen-4 prototype engine in the Terminater bike and wins the AMRA finals at Rockingham, NC, the NHRA finals in Las Vegas, and the Man Cup finals in Valdosta Georgia with the new engine package.
2014 – Johnny Vickers becomes the first NHRA Pro Fuel Harley Champion in history, winning 5 out of 7 events and runner up position in the remaining 2. Johnny establishes the NHRA national ET and MPH record at 7.25 seconds @ 174 mph. Johnny debuts the “Terminater” bike, a radically different style of Pro Fuel bike which is the first purpose built sit-up fuel bike. Johnny runs the quickest pass in history on the Terminater bike in Valdosta Georgia at the Man Cup finals at 7.09 seconds. The Terminater’s second race ever.
2013 – Traveled to Australia to meet with ANDRA officials about implementing the Pro Dragster class into their program, which was approved this August and will be officially called “Nitro Bike” starting with the 2014 season. Johnny was instrumental in getting the Pro Dragster class into the NHRA Lucas Oil Harley Davidson Screaming Eagle series. Johnny competed in 2 NHRA events in 2013. In Virginia, Johnny qualified second and won his first Wally setting the NHRA ET and speed record for that series at 7.18 seconds at 180.8 MPH. The second Wally came at Bristol where Johnny qualified #1, set a new track record of 7.37 seconds and had top MPH at over 180 MPH for the event. Qualified #1 and won the AMRA opener at State Capitol Dragway in Louisiana. Qualified #1 at the rain shortened Manufacturers Cup event at Virginia. Completed our 4th year of the “Nitro Bike School” with riders from Canada, Europe, Sweden and Australia attending the 2 classes. Johnny celebrated his 30th year in Harley Drag Racing.
2012 – Johnny Vickers sets AMRA Pro Fuel – Eight and Quarter mile National ET records in Bowling Green, KY on his way to winning the event.
Johnny Vickers captures the first Manufacturers Cup, Pro Dragster Championship (his 4th overall), winning every round of competition entered but one for the entire season.
2011 – Hawaya Racing introduces their Derringer CL Nitro engine designed for the Pro Fuel class. Johnny Vickers sets new 1/8th national mile record at No Problem Raceway @ 4.525. Nitro School bike 1 & 2 go to the finals in the AHDRA finals at Rockingham NC. Mark Cox on school bike #1 sets the 1/8th mile national record at 4.512 and also ran the quickest run ever on a P/D @ 7.09 seconds. Johnny Vickers on board the #1 Nitro school bike officially becomes the fastest man on the planet running a 7.128 at the Manufacturers Cup race held at South Georgia Motorsports Park in Valdosta, GA.
2010 – Hawaya Racing, Inc. sponsors AHDRA Pro Dragster class for the 2010 season. Hawaya Racing built Derringer powered Pro Dragsters finish #1 – #2 – #3 in AHDRA national points. Rocky Jackson finishes #1. Bill Purvis tuned by Johnny Vickers finishes #2 and Mike Nolen finished #3. Hawaya Racing Inc. holds the world’s first ever Nitro Bike school at Rockingham Dragway to great reviews.
2009 – Mike Nolen sets new AMRA 1/8th mile E.T. record of 4.577 @ 156.29 MPH on his way to his second consecutive AMRA Pro Fuel National Championship on his Hawaya Racing Derringer Powered Fueler.
2008 – Builder and Tuner for Mike Nolan, who achieved the AMRA Pro Fuel National Championship as well as setting two National ET records on his Derringer powered Pro Fuel/ Pro Dragster.
Builder and Tuner for Mark Blackmer, who achieved his second straight AMRA Top Fuel National Championship and his fourth Championship overall, on his High Gear Nitro Harley.
